Bookkeeping and finance for solar and renewables businesses
A solar install can look profitable on the quote and lose money in the books. STC money arrives after the panels go on, stock sits on the shelf, and the margin on each job hides inside one big sales line.
We set your books up so you can see what each install, each crew and each month actually made.
What we look after
STCs and cash timing. Most installers take STCs as a point of sale discount and wait for the cash. We track what's been created, what's been sold and what's still owed, so the gap shows up in your cash forecast before it shows up in your bank.
Job and crew margins. Panels, inverters, batteries, labour and subbies costed to the job, so you can see which jobs, crews and product mixes make money.
R&D and grant records. If you're building something new, we keep the time and cost records an R&D tax incentive claim needs, as you go, not at the end of the year.
The deeming period step down. The number of STCs a system earns drops each year until the scheme ends in 2030. A 2027 install earns a four year deeming period, down from five in 2026. We model what that does to your pricing and cash flow.
Stock. Stock on hand reconciled, so the balance sheet matches what's in the warehouse and your margin isn't flattered by stock you've already used.
Carbon and environmental certificates. If you hold LGCs or ACCUs, we account for them properly.
Who it's for
Residential and commercial solar installers
Battery and EV charging installers
Renewables developers, EPC contractors and service businesses
We use Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks, whichever you're already on.
How it works
Free 30 minute call. Tell us where the books are at and where cash gets tight.
Clean up. We bring the file up to date and set up jobs, STC tracking and stock properly.
Monthly rhythm. Books kept weekly, a short report each month with job margins, STC receivables and cash, and a CPA checking the numbers.
